This page is full
of highlights from past shows - it's for those of you who like
the
randomness of live performance and don't mind hearing bad (sometimes
very very bad) recording quality; awful tuning; people playing
completely
the wrong thing at the wrong time, etc. In fact this page is for
those of you who, like me, enjoy these things and appreciate them as
part of the adventure and excitement of creating, performing, and
listening to
music. This page is an audio documentation of the band's
development; and it's a token of appreciation to our friends who are
far away and would like to come to our shows abut can't.
If you've come to this page
looking to hear the studio recordings from Truth in The Dark
(our new
album): those are on the main page - just go to the top of the
page and follow the 'Home' link and they'll be in the audio player on
the right side of the screen.
Because we put new tracks up on this page after almost every show, it's
a good idea to join the mailing list (at the top of this page) so
you'll get a notification when there's new music here. Whenever I
post a new track it stays on this page until I get sick of it -
generally a couple weeks to a month. The really nice tracks stay
forever, the really bad ones only last a couple days.
You're welcome to download whatever you can get your hands on from this
page - just don't sell it on the street, ok?
Thanks for

The Parkdale
Revolutionary
Orchestra live @ the Tranzac,
Toronto
...sometime in February '08?
Here's a set of songs from a show we did at the Tranzac back in
February. We were back there again last night to do another show
and my friend Chris Warren
came to the show and gave me this recording he'd made of us a couple
months ago.
Thanks Chris!
I really like a lot of these tracks - they're really live and sometimes
a bit sketchy, but they have a realy good energy to them. I
remember that being a really fun show and that the audience that night
was really having a good time. You can feel that positivity in
the recordings somehow.
This set also includes a poetry collaboration with Tomy Bewick. I've
been slack about setting up more of those... don't think we've done one
since Tomy's - but I'll be getting back to that for sure.
So: these are yours to download!
They won't be up on this page forever so, if you like collecting weird
little moments of sound, please go ahead and grab these now...
just right click on the name of each track you want, select the 'save
file' thing and it's yours!

Recorded by Susan
Carey
Video of
"I'll
Try":
Susan Carey is a filmmaker from
Guelph who's working on a documentary about "music and cultural
responsibility", which includes performances by and interviews with
members of Blue Rodeo,
Mr.
Something-Something, trombonist Scott Thompson,
and the Parkdale
Revolutionary Orchestra.
She keeps popping up with a camera where ever we play - keep an eye out
for her at our shows from January - March and, if you see her, buy her
a drink... she's doing good work and deserves some appreciation!
I'll post information about the progress of this documentary and where
you can see it on this website. Go to the top of the page
and join the mailing list if you're really curious.
This
video is, of
course, pretty grainy because it's from the Youtube repost... we'll
have some prettier stuff here soon!
Performing
with the great American pianist Thollem McDonas was an artistic high
point of 2007 for us.
Thollem loves
spontenaity to the point of absolutely refusing to
rehearse this music at all! So this live premiere recording has
the
wonderful vibrancy of in-the-moment creativity.
This excerpt is from
the middle section of the concerto, and it also
features our good friend Peter Ing on viola.
The Parkdale
Revolutionary Orchestra collaborates with a different spoken word
artist each show. Spencer is the author of two poetry
chapbooks: 'Sometimes
I Wish Raptors Existed So I Could Get Disemboweled And Finally Spill My
Guts To Someone' and 'My Name Is Scientist'.
He's
also a major force on
stage as this recording clearly demonstrates. I love the quiet
"thanks for having me" at the end.
