| Letter From London Lyrics: K. Mueller-Heaslip Music: B. Mueller-Heaslip |
across the street a man used to live dug in like a mole in his underground lair his house is empty now, it's shuttered and closed I look through the rain-soaked window and then and then I think of you not the sad shops of Ball's Pond Road I see your face through a constant mist not these British people and their British clothes what is this city and where was it born? what hand made it under what sad sun? what force made these people into these forms? why did it take me and why did I come? and then I think of you not the sad shops of Ball's Pond Road I see your face through a constant mist not these British people and their British clothes no word from the mole man no answers from him over his house is a watery moon I've been here too long to remember you |
Historical Fact! The 'mole man' lived in London (UK) and dug tunnels beneath the streets from his basement. In 2005 the road in front of his house collapsed because he'd undermined it so much with his tunnels. Kristin stayed across the street from the mole man's house when she was in London last year acting in a play. |
| Elevator Lyrics: K. Mohr Music: Mueller-Heaslip/Mohr |
approaching
the entrance moving through the door on an elevator elevator levitate the red-light increments the rising metal box mouth watering moonstone humming resistance is down reel the fish in but I will be strong and I will stay home and I will make love to no one at all and I will decline your twisted kiss but I can only resist for so long a sinking feeling consensual captivation a brisk walk in known direction sweet sexual manipulation and as the heart is fleeting and as the head is pounding every thought is silent and every cell a furnace but I will be strong and I will stay home and I will make love to no one at all and I will decline your twisted kiss but I can only resist for so long breathing closer watching clothing fall to the floor naked naked I understand your motives I try to run from your bed but I am in the hot seat and you have closed my eyelids I understand your motives I try to run from your bed but I am in the hot seat and you have closed my eyelids but I will be strong and I will stay home and I will make love to no one at all and I will decline your twisted kiss I will be strong I will stay home |

| I'll Try Lyrics: G. Marshall Music: B. Mueller-Heaslip |
I can't possibly seem to make it today and I can't possibly ever make it today time seems to have slipped past me and away and I cannot possibly make it today and I simply cannot possibly make it today everything I wanted to do will have to wait there just doesn't seem to be time enough to do anything and I simply can't get around to it today But I'll Try! no I simply cannot possibly think about making it today there's not enough time to even get up and get at it nothing fits in the way we planned it today and there's absolutely no time to think about thinking about it today But I'll Try! I'll Try! I'll Try! I'll Try. |

| Comet Lyrics: Wire Music: B. Mueller-Heaslip |
It's coming fast, it's a comet coming this way with your name on it It's a heaven-sent extinction event and the chorus goes and the chorus goes and the chorus goes bang bang bang bang bangbangbang bang then a whimper |
A study in lyrical
efficiency! A True Fact! My friend Ian Revell gave me a mixed CD of Wire songs years ago. By the time I decided to arrange this song I'd lost that recording and so I wrote this song from memory... ...but because I hadn't heard the tracks for so long what I actually did was combine the lyrics from 'Comet' with the music from 'Germ Ship', which was also on that recording. Listen to Wire's 'Germ Ship' and you'll hear a variation on the string riff from our version of 'Comet'. Weird! |
| The Death of Arafat Lyrics: K. Mueller-Heaslip Music: B. Mueller-Heaslip |
It's six a.m. in Jerusalem It will go on without them without these eyes and faces without these lips and voices without these songs, if ever they were songs It's six a.m. I am not a blade of grass I am not replaceable I will not be replaced I'll carve myself into the world It's six a.m. in Jarusalem The old man's dead he died in bed the old man's dead he died in bed |

| I Didn't
Sleep Lyrics: K. Mueller-Heaslip Music: B. Mueller-Heaslip |
I didn't sleep
not at all not at all I lay still unnerved by the sound of your breathing I didn't sleep I listened to you sleeping now that your love your love was mine here I am - I listened to you sleeping and quietly started to cry you are more dear to me than the stars in the sky |

| Let's Fall in Love Lyrics: M. Kaler Music: Muller-Heaslip/Kaler |
don't the moon look pretty did you know that it's a ship it's going to take us way up to the sun we we're all bored spirits waiting round to take that trip but while we're here on earth let's have some fun don't that moon look lovely did you know that it's a rock no reason no purpose no beauty there at all and me I'm just a monkey that somehow learned to talk to walk on two legs maybe even fall let's fall in love let's fall in love (lalalalalalala la) even monkeys and bored spirits fall in love don't the moon look lovely did you know that it's a face it's looking down on everything we do you could put your hand in mine and that ain't no disgrace it don't matter if he sees that too let's fall in love let's fall in love he would do it if he could he'd fall in love let's fall in love 'cause it's feeling like we should let's fall in love don't the moon look lovely now that's all that I can say I hope I've said enough and not too much 'cuz the moon is just the nighttime and darling you're a summer's day and the moon you know is far too far to touch let's fall in love let's fall in love let's fall in love let's fall in love |
A True Fact! This song is from the Ugly Bug Band's recording First of the Apres-Garde. The Ugly Bug Band played at Ben and Kristin Mueller-Heaslip's wedding and this song was their first dance. |
| Blue Bolero Lyrics/Music: B. Mueller-Heaslip |

| Lost in the Stars Lyrics: Anderson Music: Mueller-Heaslip/ Kurt Weill |
before lord god made the sea and the land he held all the stars in the palm of his hand and they ran through his fingers like grains of sand and one little star fell alone then the lord god hunted throught the wide night air for that little dark star on the wind down there and he stated and promised he'd take special care so it wouldn't get lost again now a man don't mind if the stars grow dim and the clouds come over and cover him so long as the lord god's watching over him keeping track how it all goes on but i've been walking through the night and the day 'till my legs get weary and my hair turns grey and sometimes it seems maybe god's gone away forgetting the promise that we heard him say and we're lost out here in the stars little stars, big stars, blowing through the night and we're lost out here in the stars little stars, big stars, blowing through the night and we're lost out here in the stars |

| Vanilla Perfume: Lyrics: K. Mueller-Heaslip Music: B. Mueller-Heaslip |
dear reasonably beautiful stranger: please forgive me I never meant to bite your wrist but it was so close to my lips and we were pressed so close together and I was overwhelmed by the smell of your vanilla perfume |
